Certificate of Millinery Construction and Design - Part Time
Is millinery your passion? This certificate will enable you to develop the creative, theoretical and practical ability to craft hats using a variety of fabrics, materials and styles. You can experiment with your own styles, fabrics and ideas in classes of 15, that ensure personal teacher attention is provided.
Course Content
- Blocking, cording, steaming, stiffening.
- Basic skills of hand blocking and moulding a cocktail hat, a fur felt, a casual summer straw and free form sinamay.
- Wiring, lining and binding.
- Hat box storage and presentation
- Fabric covered shapes.
- High fashion headwear in fur, felts, sinamays and straws.
- Trimmings - assembling, line and balance, draping, netting, hand finishing.
- More complicated moulding skills.
- Client liaison, fitting and presentation of bespoke work.
